Historic Defeat for USA in ODI Match Against Nepal

The United States cricket team suffered a historic defeat in a recent ODI match against Nepal. Nepal bowled out the USA for a mere 35 runs in 12 overs, setting a new record for the lowest score in a World Cricket League Division Two match. Nepal chased down the target comfortably, winning the match by 8 wickets in just the sixth over.

This marks the worst defeat for the USA in ODI cricket. The previous record was held by Zimbabwe, who scored 35 runs against Sri Lanka in 2004. The USA received ODI status after participating in the World Cricket.

Nepalese leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane was the hero of the match, taking 6 American wickets for just 16 runs. Xavier Marshall top-scored for the USA with 16 runs.

Growing Popularity of Cricket in the US

Despite the loss to Nepal, cricket is experiencing a surge in popularity within the United States. Major League Cricket is planned for launch in the coming years, with franchises in Dallas, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

In July, the USA's under-19 women's team emerged victorious in the inaugural "West Indies Women's Under 19 Rising Stars T20 Championship," defeating Trinidad in the final.

Several factors contribute to the rise of cricket in the US. A significant South Asian immigrant population plays a role, and cricket's accessibility for all ages and skill levels makes it an attractive sport.

With the growing popularity of cricket in the US, there's hope that the national team will become increasingly competitive on the international stage.
